Welcome to My New Blog Site

Hey everyone! I moved my blog back to:

http://cswiercz.blogspot.com

I returned to Blogspot for three reasons:

  1. Spam: I've been receiving much more comment spam at Wordpress.com than I have on Blogger. Maybe Wordpress' CAPTCHA is broken or maybe Google does a better job of filtering out posts. Either way, I recall my Blogger experience to be much easier on dealing with spam issues.

  2. HTML: Blogger has much greater flexibility when it comes to HTML on-site and within posts. I had trouble embedding videos and calendars into Wordpress posts and pages. It may not be important to some but I like to experiment with technology and Blogger serves a bit more as a coding playground. Besides, the GData API allows me to obtain my posts programatically with ease. Finally, gadget development is entirely open within Blogger whereas I have to pay for some of the good gadgets in Wordpress.

  3. Google is taking over the world: This past year, Google has released or plans to release some really fascinating technologies:

    1. Google Wave

    2. Google Friend Connect

    3. Google Voice

    4. Blogger API

I'm quite convinced that Google will continue to unite many of the key technologies we use under the same umbrella. Therefore, I hope to begin using more of what they have to offer now so that, later down the road, it will be easier to incorporate their new latest and greatest product.

I'm a technology nerd. I like this stuff. And that's probably the fourth reason why I'm switching back.

So anyway, I hope you can all continue to follow my research progress at cswiercz.blogspot.com. See you there!

In the '80s, it was obvious that the Japanese were gonna take over the world. More recently, China. There was actually legislation to control IBM but by the time the trial was over, so was IBM. (Sun, Cisco, EMC... and the list goes on)

Google is impressive, but success kills and there will be no exception here. Like M$, they saw an opportunity and ran with it. Google is important and better than the other examples, but you can't fight physics.

BTW, don't bet on the US being more relevant than France in the near term. Failed, bankrupt organizations lose their lustre quickly.
